LASIK is not the only option for vision correction at Northwest Vision Institute. For patients experiencing presbyopia, or who are not good candidates for LASIK, Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is a popular option.

Refractive lens exchange is performed in the same process as cataract surgery. The natural crystalline lens is removed and replaced with a high tech intraocular lens implant (IOL) that is individually selected to correct your prescription. The only difference is that the natural crystalline lens has not developed or has not fully developed cataracts yet.

The lOL that replaces the natural lens corrects the patient’s vision. There are many lens options available to correct distance, near and intermediate vision to reduce and eliminate your dependence on glasses. There are options that correct astigmatism. Your medical team will work with you to select the one that best suits your lifestyle.
